BILCO® Basement Doors · Type BR Sloped Wall
Classic Series Sloped Wall Basement Doors
Built for basement areaways with sloped sidewalls set into your home’s foundation. The BILCO Type BR door mounts on brick, stone, block or poured concrete, giving you a wide, weathertight outside entrance — professionally installed by DFS In-Home Services.
Made for Sloped Sidewalls
An Entrance That Fits Your Foundation
Many homes have a basement areaway with angled side walls built right into the foundation. The Type BR door is designed for exactly that: it sits on the sloped walls, so you get a full-size, weathertight entrance for moving furniture, storage and equipment without rebuilding the areaway.
Each door ships with the hardware and instructions for a proper installation. Choose the standard primer finish to paint any color, or the new factory powder coat in one of six colors — our crew handles the measuring, installation and clean-up.

Optional Upgrade
Powder Coat Paint Finish
New for the Type BR. This factory-applied polyester resin coating is tougher and far more scratch-resistant than conventional paint — and because it arrives finished, there’s no painting required after installation.
Powder coat is available on all three sizes in six standard colors — White, Sandstone, Gray, Brick, Black and Green — chosen to complement any home.
Finish warranty: one year against flaking, peeling or blistering under normal conditions. Damage from installation, falling objects, scratching, abrasion or misuse is not covered.
Primer finish: doors with the standard primer finish need a finish coat of paint after installation.
Building Code
Meets IRC Emergency Egress Requirements
Section R310 of the International Residential Code applies to one- and two-family homes. It calls for a second way out of any basement living space, so the people inside can escape if the main stairway is blocked during a fire, and so firefighters have direct access to the basement.
BILCO basement doors meet these emergency escape and rescue requirements for finished basements. The IRC is revised every three years and each state adopts it on its own schedule, so check with your local building department for the version enforced where you live — or ask us during your free in-home consultation.
